Karen Neilsen
Annandale, QLD
Numbers and dollars have always been Karen’s forte.
From a background in the banking industry, then as a self-employed small business operator starting out with a manual bookkeeping system, she converted to MYOB around 1989. Now with 17 years experience with MYOB, Karen knows her way around the system very well.
A large portion of her work is devoted to setting up new data files, customising forms and one-on-one training with small business operators. It is much easier to have everything running smoothly if it is set up correctly in the first place, than it is to fix things when they go wrong.
Karen also provides on-site bookkeeping, managing payroll, supplier payments, and the like, or doing pick-up and drop-off services on a regular basis to those clients who do not have the time or desire to do their own books. This saves them time and money, but they still have reconciliations and reports supplied regularly which give them an insight into how their business is travelling and at the end of the year, it is simply a matter of transferring their data file onto a disk for submission to their accountant.
Karen has assisted many and varied types of business from small home businesses to a 4 ½ Star Hotel.
She has attended training such as ITP Income Tax Preparation, Australia Wide Taxation & Payroll Training, and GST & MYOB, and is an MYOB Professional Partner, and a Member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.
As part of Karen’s community involvement, she is also the voluntary bookkeeper and treasurer for Ronald McDonald House Townsville.
